Beach Playground Project

Beach Playground Project

As many members know, the Timmy Patten Beach is a popular destination for local families in the summer months!  For years, our children have enjoyed catching tadpoles at the water’s edge, digging deep holes in the sand, and playing on the playground.

In our 2011 planning, an idea was floated to the Board to look into replacing the older swing set, slide, and monkey bars at the beach.  Although the existing equipment is still in decent condition, some parents were looking for more accessible equipment that could be used by younger children, without concerns for their safety. The Board has put a plan in place to replace the current playground with newer equipment in the Spring of 2012.

We are excited about bringing in a new swing set with ample swings for both older AND younger children!  Mothers and Fathers will be able to push their babies and toddlers in age-appropriate swings.  We are also pleased to replace the tall metal slide with a slightly shorter one, which will hopefully quell fears about children falling from 10 feet up. After reviewing a number of options and suppliers, we feel that a monetary goal of$10,000 should be enough to bring a more enjoyable playground experience to our beach-goers.

Please check back for more information about our new equipment plans and donations.
